We currently live in a world where seemingly everything is dominated by technology. Our mobile phones are now more powerful than many top line computers released less than a decade ago. Technology is seemingly everywhere, and for that reason, you simply must get with the times if you wish to stand any chance of succeeding in the business world. Despite this, many wannabe business men and women would apparently rather spend their free time whining and complaining about how their business is suffering and not getting enough traffic, rather than actually getting off their butts and physically doing something positive to make things happen.
News flash, if you wish to be successful, people need to know about your business and the service you provide. The majority of them won’t coincidentally stumble across your website or business page, you have to physically advertise yourself and let your voice be heard. So, stop being lazy, stop whining and complaining, because whilst you’re feeling sorry for yourself because you’re unwilling to work an extra few hours on promotion, three of your rivals are out there taking advantage of the many free classified ads websites and are indirectly taking away potential customers from you. Want to promote your business? Here are some websites to help you do just that.
Craigslist – Everybody in the business world should know about craigslist. It is ranked 49 globally, number 11 in the US, and is one of the most useful free classified ads websites you could ever wish to use. It began in 1995 as a simple email list sent out to close friends and has now evolved into the super power it is today.
Kijiji.ca – If you’re a Canadian resident, or have based your business in Canada, then Kijiji.ca is the site for you. Believe it or not, but Kijiji is actually a subsidiary of eBay, and was launched back in 2005. Kijiji is now available to a host of other cities and countries all around the world. Kijiji offers very similar services to craigslist and other free classified ads companies and websites, with the main difference being that Kijiji experiences relatively low traffic flowing in from the US. They are ranked 560 globally, yet number 10 in Canada.
Backpage – This free classified ads website has been designed and created to provide a wide range and variety of free classified ads, including those related to automotive, real estate, and job listings. It is ideal for anybody looking to advertise and promote their services, and guess what, that should be you. Perhaps slightly more controversially, is the fact that Backpage offers an ‘adult’ section, listing ‘adult services and products’, though officially and completely prohibiting illegal services such as prostitution. Whether your business is adult orientated or not, backpage is still an extremely useful tool for promotion. They’re ranked 511 globally and 179 in the US.
Gumtree – Heading over the pond into the UK, we’ve got Gumtree, a free classified ads website that’s completely free and extremely popular over there. Founded back in 2000, the site has come a long way since then, and is fantastic for people looking to sell things, promote, or buy things. This site is ranked 970 globally, yet 30 in the UK. If you’re based in the UK especially, Gumtree is certainly a great tool to have at your disposal.
Oodle – Based out of California, USA, oodle was founded back in 2005 and is now actually the largest free classified ads aggregator, dealing with listings from hugely popular sites such as ForRent.com, eBay and listings from local newspapers and websites too. Perhaps most beneficial of all, is the fact that oodle actually powers the Facebook market place, an app on facebook designed to help advertise items and services available to both buy, and to sell. Social networking is such a massive part of everyday life that if you aren’t tapping into it for potential custom, you probably shouldn’t even be in business at all. Harsh, but true, so buck up your ideas and get with the times. Oodle is ranked 7,628 globally, and 2,587 in the US, but don’t let that put you off. The main component you should be taking advantage of with oodle, is their strong social networking connections. Plus, you know, it’s free, so what have you got to lose?
